To the awesome cool dude...

Today is Jesse’s birthday! Jess is now twenty-five, and I feel very lucky to have had him as a part of my life for two and a half of those years. Our friendship was first nested in the lovely apartments of The Lodges at Glenwood (an eloquent apartment complex on the west side of Provo, Utah). Through the whip cream games in the parking lot, Christmas Sweater parties in Bountiful, Spring BBQ’s with the guys and the most strategic food fight the west side has ever seen, we became friends to last.

Now here we are, two and a half years later, and these are just a few of many things I know and love about Jesse. Jesse loves spicy chicken wings, and BBQ food in the summer time. In fact, he just loves summer!

Jess can always make people around him laugh, and when him and his friends get together there is no stopping their clever wit and amusing personalities. I’m crazy about his guitar playing and when I get to watch him and his friend’s jam. Jesse is charming and personable. One of my favorite stories that he has told me is of a time when he was little, and he told his mom that he didn't want to be called honey or sweetie anymore. She asked him, well then what would you like to be called? Very seriously he responded, "I don't know. Maybe, like awesome cool dude."

Murphy is probably one of the most important parts of Jesse’s life. Murph has seen Jesse through everything and has loved him still the same. Best friends until the end…Murphy and Jesse are two of a kind. They love taking walks down to the park, and Murph will bark at the ducks. Never has a boy loved his dog so much, and I am not just saying that as a writers touch, it is very true. Murph somehow becomes a part of every song that Jesse sings, many jokes he makes, and a good majority of the stories Jesse loves. Oh little murph.

So Jesse, I want to say happy birthday and in the words of Michael Jackson,

“You can shout out all you want to cause (it’s your birthday!) there ain’t no sin in folks all getting loud! If you take the chance and do it, then there ain’t no one who’s gonna put you down (cause its your birthday!) cause we’re the party people night and day (cause it’s your birthday!), living crazy that’s the only way!”

With love,

Kristen
